Texel is best explored by bike. There ia an enormous diversity on the Wadden Island: polders, woods, heathland, vast beaches, charming villages ... You will get acquainted with local products in many places: beer, cheese, lamb, fish and ice cream. You can see and taste the Texel flavours in our restaurant and at the mini market too. Flora & Fauna
There are many nature reserves to be found on Texel. The Hors is a desert-like sandy plain where new dunes are still forming. The Bollekamer is grazed by Scottish Highlanders and Exmoor ponies. From Bertusnol, you look out over the highest dunes of Texel. And at Het Hooge Berg area you have true Texel views with sheep sheds, traditional four-square Dutch farmhouses with pyramid-shaped roofs and the Waddenzee dyke. You will also find the De Zandkuil insect reserve here. Will you be exploring with children? The Sommeltjesroute is a great kid's nature trail of 1.5 km long.
Villages and towns
Texel has 7 villages, each with its own atmosphere and character. Oosterend is the most authentic with its characteristic houses and cosy alleys. Den Burg is located centrally on the island. You will find most shops, restaurants and cafés here. The weekly market is held there on Monday mornings. Oudeschild has a cosy bustling harbour and De Koog is a true seaside resort. The furthest north, you will find De Cocksdorp, near the island's fiery red lighthouse.

We have 4 cool activities that take our guests outdoors, and at the park you can already see many improvements to nature. We have also trained a special Green Team. They will tell you all about the local flora and fauna. Handy, educational, but above all, great fun. So let's go!
