Discover South Holland's flood protection
The Maeslantkering fprms part of the Delta Works. At Het Keringhuis, you will learn more about this storm surge barrier and why it is so important for South Holland. A visit to the Keringhuis is great fun, even for the youngest visitors: they can play endlessly on the water playground. Building dikes and guiding shipping along the major rivers, just like in real life. On a Boarding Tour, a guide takes you to the outer area of the storm surge barrier. A unique experience!

A visit to the free FutureLand Information Centre will tell you all about the development of the Rotterdam harbour. At Maasvlakte 2, you can see the largest container ships and state-of-the-day container terminals with your own eyes! De Uithof in The Hague is the largest indoor sports centre in Europe. There is a 400-meter-long skating rink and a 21-meter-high climbing wall. Explore the waves at Hoek van Holland
Would you like to learn to surf? Or can you surf already, and are you eager to take on the waves?The Surfschool offers all kinds of surf lessons, including lessons for beginners and children. You don't need more than a swimming certificate in your pocket. Boards and wetsuits are available for rent. If you prefer to take it easy, then a SUP board may just be the thing for you. Even if there are no waves, there is plenty to do. Archery, sandboarding, beach volleyball... There is always something to do at the Surfschool!

Bicycle-pedestrian ferry between Hoek van Holland and the Maasvlakte
A bicycle-pedestrian ferry service runs between Hoek van Holland and Maasvlakte II between May and September. The crossing is quite an experience, thanks to the impressive ships that pass by. The stops are located at Berghaven in Hoek van Holland, and at FutureLand on the Maasvlakte. If you want to learn more about the ports of Rotterdam, you've come to the right place at FutureLand. You can go on lovely bicycle rides from both ferry service stops. If you get off at the Maasvlakte, a trip to Brielle or Oostvoorne is highly recommended. Are you heading to Hoek van Holland? Then be sure to visit the pier or follow the route through the dunes, towards Scheveningen.
