A lovely day out in the country
You can fully enjoy nature in Lauwersmeer National Park. Take a brisk walk, hop on the bike or head out on the water. At the activity centre, you will learn everything about birds, and once it's dark, you can enjoy the beauty of the night sky here. On clear nights, you can see the Milky Way in all its splendour here. There are 3 places where you can see the night sky well. That's possible at the Lauwernest Activity Centre, the Achter de Zwarten watchtower and the Vlinderbalg watchtower. Every year, many fun and educational activities are organized for young and old.

A day-trip discovering Schiermonnikoog
Schiermonnikoog is a car-free island, so you can cycle all over the island. Cycle along the Wassermann bunker dating from 1943, You have a beautiful view over the entire island from here. Pass by the lighthouse and admire the Whale Jaw. There is a lower jaw of a Blue Whale in the village centre. This Whale Jaw reminds Schiermonnikoog of the whaling that some islanders contributed to in the post-war years. So there is plenty to see.

Look inside the Seal Hospital
Have a look in the largest specialised seal hospital in Europe. Every day, sick, injured or weakened seals are cared for in the Pieterburen Seal Centre. In the visitor's centre, you are in the middle of the seal hospital where you can watch how they care for the seals. When the seals have regained their strength, they are released back into nature. After the visit to the seals, you can head over to the Wadden Garden. This is a wild and colourful field btimming with plants and flowers from the region. There is a Wadden play area for the kids. This is a playground where ebb and flow are simulated. Climb with ropes to the other side, and catch small animals in the water using a fishnet. There is plenty to do in Groningen. Like going to the large market. There is a commodity market every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. You will also find lots of nice terraces, and you can go shopping in the compact city centre. You will also find the historic town hall and the famous Martini Tower, which is 97 meters tall. If you climb it, you can see nearly 30 kilometres in clear weather. In the heart of the Groningen city centre, lies the Forum. This is the meeting place for curious people. Exhibitions, films, various events, talk shows and much more take place here.

Along the way, you will hear an explanation about the special nature reserve that's included on the World Heritage list for good reason. The Wadden Sea is the largest tidal area in the world. The largest indoor climbing park in the north of the Netherlands. Both indoors and outdoors, you can climb over the ropes and bridges or go on the 300-meter-long cable cars at a height of up to 8 meters. The course is fun and offers enough challenge and fun for young and old.
