Het Loo Palace, in the woodland setting of Apeldoorn in the heart of the Netherlands, was the favourite summer residence of the Stadtholders and the Royal Family of the Netherlands from 1686 to 1975. Since 1984 the palace has served as a museum after a spectacular restoration of the buildings and the gardens, returning them to their original seventeenth century state. The palace with its interiors dating from the Stadtholder-King William III and Queen Mary II up to the reign of Queen Wilhelmina, reflects the lifestyles of the members of the family of the Dutch House of Orange-Nassau over three centuries.

The Dutch Open Air Museum captures history by its authentic buildings, objects and true stories. You will be taken along on a trip through time…. from two centuries ago until very recently. Experience the adventure around barnyards, farms, houses, mills, the farm café and shops!

On the edge of Natural Park Veluwe, you will find the biggest family amusement park of the Veluwe, Julianatoren. This park is home to Jul the mouse and his friends. More than just a castle

The Cannenburch castle, built in the Middle Ages, is situated in a beautiful old park with meadows and ponds. You can visit the castle and stroll around or go biking in the surrounding area.

Candle manufactory, play park, trout farm, fishing ponds and trout smoke-house

On the Veluwe, in the small village of Emst, you will find trout farm ’t Smallert. A park where all members of the family can enjoy many things! ‘t Smallert offers a wide range of possibilities like, for instance a nice day out, children’s parties, office parties, birthdays and family reunions. This park consists of a trout farm, fishing ponds, candle manufactory and a restaurant with a lovely terrace. Apart from day recreation, we also have possibilities for celebrations and parties. As well as fishing, making candles, tours, barbecues, buffets and lunches to name just a few.

A farm, over 300 years old

Near the hamlet of Zuuk, you will find the Museum Farm Hagedoorns Plaatse; a Saxon farm, established in 1715. The farmhouse is set up in such a way, that it looks as if the family that lived and worked here around 1900, has just gone out for a few hours. During the tour, done by volunteers, you will get an impression of how the farming family lived around 1900!
