The Sneekermeer lake is ideal for water sports enthusiasts. You can sail, go boating or relax at the waters edge. Around the Sneekermeer you will find various marinas where you can moor and pavilions where you can enjoy a snack, drink and beautiful views over the nature reserve.

The town of Joure has for centuries been renowned as a centre of artisan trades, a history that is clearly reflected in Museum Joure. The museum is located on a historical industrial site and comprises 10 heritage buildings. Here you can learn everything there is to know about the various traditional trades. You can simply stroll through it all at your leisure, or get your hands dirty and experience it first hand. You can visit the very first Douwe Egbert's coffee production shop for example. And you can end your day with a (free) cup of coffee in the museum coffee restaurant.

Belvédère Natural Museum

Belvédère Museum is located at the edge of the historical forested landscape park Oranjewoud. The museum is the home of Frisian and North-Netherlands artists and strives to display their work in relation to the work of kindred spirits from the Netherlands and abroad. The museum has two large exposition halls and a central museum cafe that offers a view of the Oranjewoud Estate, the former country house of the Dutch royal family.
