Sub-tropical waterpark Swimfun always offers entertainment. Feeling adventurous? Then swish down the slide with a beautiful starry sky or down the 50-meter-long Magic Oval. The crazy river takes you through the jungle and dark caves. Belvédère Natural Museum

Belvédère Museum is located at the edge of the historical forested landscape park Oranjewoud. The museum is the home of Frisian and North-Netherlands artists and strives to display their work in relation to the work of kindred spirits from the Netherlands and abroad. The museum has two large exposition halls and a central museum cafe that offers a view of the Oranjewoud Estate, the former country house of the Dutch royal family.

Put your skates down on real top-class ice

Put on your skates and hop on the rink of Thialf. On the track where top-class athletes broke records, you can skate a round for yourself! This includes the famous 400-meter track, a 333-meter track and the scribble track for the very little ones. Afterwards, hot chocolate is waiting for you to warm you back up.

Cuddling with Sjoukje, Hiltsje and Bertha

You will come especially close to nature at this special dairy farm in Friesland. Under expert guidance, you will go on an excursion around the farm, dressed in farmers overalls. Next you will go into the meadows on foot to visit cows like Sjoukje, Hiltsje and Bertha. These sensitive animals love to cuddle, so you will relax as well, up against the warm body of one of these cows. An experience that you will not forget easily! Do you prefer something more sporty? In Nature museum Fryslân, you will find four floors filled with information, special animals and plants, assignments, games and other surprises waiting to be discovered. And everything is focused on the nature of Fryslân. On a day out with small children? Then be sure to visit the attic, which is home to Dragon Li-Ming.

Admire a treasure trove of ceramics

In the centre of Leeuwarden, you can find the beautiful city palace Princessehof. This ceramics museum offers you collections of Delftware and imperial porcelain from China to spectacular work by artists such as Picasso. And did you know that the world-famous M. C. Escher was born in this same exceptional palace?

The Jopie Huisman Museum is dedicated to the life and work of the Frisian master painter. Jopie was known for his realistic works and his love for nature. Visiting this museum will be extra special with the free audio-tour during which you can still hear Jopie, who passed away in 2000, tell about his works himself.

Discover hundreds of butterflies at the butterfly-paradise

Close to the natural reserve De Havelterberg, just outside the pretty village of Havelte, lies Butterfly-Paradise Papiliorama. Butterfly-Paradise Papiliorama belongs to one of the biggest indoor butterfly-gardens in all of Europe. Within the more then 900 square meter big glass house several hundred butterflies fly every day, from different regions in the whole world. Colourful jewels of nature fly freely around the visitor who in turn can watch them and take pictures.
