Visiting the bustling city
There is plenty to do in Groningen. Like going to the large market. There is a commodity market every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. You will also find lots of nice terraces, and you can go shopping in the compact city centre. You will also find the historic town hall and the famous Martini Tower, which is 97 meters tall. If you climb it, you can see nearly 30 kilometres in clear weather. In the heart of the Groningen city centre, lies the Forum. This is the meeting place for curious people. Exhibitions, films, various events, talk shows and much more take place here.

Did you know that Drenthe has been voted the proto-province of the Netherlands? Drenthe is home to dozens of prehistoric sites to discover. One of these sites is the Hunebed Centre, where you will travel 5,000 years back in time. On this journey, you will enter the mysterious world of our ancestors. Here every conceivable question about the ancient monolithic tombs known as hunebedden will be answered. A visit to Drenthe is only truly complete once you have seen the hunebeds and visited the Hunebed Centre.

For nine years already, the Boomkroonpad at the Boswachterij Gieten Borger has been a special attraction. Where else in the Netherlands is it possible to experience the forest as uniquely as here? From the carrot-tunnel up to the watchtower, at the Boomkroonpad the forest never gets boring! A visit to the Memorial Centre Camp Westerbork is educational and impressive. This museum tells you all about the life of victims and survivors of the camp. Exhibitions with personal stories and films make the story of camp Westerbork suitable for children as well.
